Scotch Beef
Our sirloin steaks are prepared from Scotch Beef, carefully selected for eating quality and matured to develop tenderness and flavour.
Traditionally butchered and hand cut by our team, each steak is prepared to a minimum weight, so you’ll never receive less than the size you’ve ordered.
Cooking Suggestion
For best results, remove your sirloin steak from the fridge around 20–30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry and season just before it goes into the pan.
Heat a heavy-based frying pan until hot, add a small amount of oil and place the steak into the pan. Cook over a high heat, turning during cooking to develop a good, even crust.
As a general guide:
- Rare: 2–3 minutes per side
- Medium-rare: 3–4 minutes per side
- Medium: 4–5 minutes per side
- Well done: 5–6 minutes per side
Cooking times are a guide and will vary depending on the thickness of your steak and your preferred level of doneness.
For extra flavour, add a knob of butter with garlic and rosemary towards the end of cooking and baste the steak as the butter foams.
Once cooked, transfer to a warm plate and allow the steak to rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestion
Keep it classic with chunky chips, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and peppercorn sauce, or serve with buttery greens and roasted potatoes for something a little lighter.
